The campaign, which ran from September 2008 to January this year, was organised by the newspaper Sai Gon Giai Phong and the HCM City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and included a wide range of sectors, from commerce to transport and insurance.
According to a representative of the Kien Giang provincial People’s Committee, the recognition would create many opportunities for the island to attract both tourists and investors.
The Government has asked the Ministry of Planning and Investment to collaborate with the province to construct an entertainment complex on Phu Quoc.
The 600sq.km island, Viet Nam’s largest, possesses stunningly beautiful natural scenery and offers a range of unique local dishes. — VNS
