In the World War II (1939 - 1945), the birds living there died due to bad care and the remaining animals were moved to Saigon zoo by the French. Therefore it changed to only a garden.
After the capital's Independence Day, it was rebuilt and named Bach Thao Park (Hundreds of Plants Park).
In the northwest of the park, there is a hill called Khan hill or Nung hill, it is actually Sa mountain. Sa is the name of a strong tree, many of which grow there. On the top of this hill there is an old temple commemorating Huyen Thien Hac De, a boy who helped the Ly King fight against in vaders.
Bach Thao Park is very attractive, with many well established trees and flowers, romantic paths and clean ponds full of lotus plants.
