The pagoda was built in the reign period of King Ly Nhan Tong (1138-1175) worshipping Buddha and Tu Dao Hanh - a famous monk of the Ly dynasty. It has an airy and large landscape facing To Lich river consisting of a large garden in front and a big architecture behind. Architecture past of the pagoda are: three-door gate (3 layers), large brick way, ground, octagon shaped house, two ranges of house, main building (frond house, mid house, Thieu Huong (burner) Thuong dien (upper altar), two corridors, bell room, ancestor’s room, mother’s room and garden of tower in near of pagoda).
Main building has a large architectural scale with nin-apartment front house, 3 apartment upper altar.
Apart from original decorative panels, there is a numerous amount of objects in various material and styles with high value of history and arts. They are 198 various statues, 11 nominations of God promotion, 13 stone steles and two canopies of the XVIII century.
Lang Pagoda was very famous in the past. Today, its is still a well-known interest place of Hanoi.
