Ba Dinh square, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Ho Chi Minh' house

The Presidential palace is a four - storey building facing Hung Vuong boulevard, built in 1901. Under French colonial time, this is the office and residence of French general governor in Indochina (so it was called palace of general governor). Now, this is the place where our state leaders receive important international delegations, and foreign ambassadors present the credentials. Here, president Ho Chi Minh had chaired many meetings of governmental council.

Presidential residence

Ba Dinh square

Ba Dinh is a heart of Hanoi as Hanoi is heart of the whole Vietnam. Because, there have been happened important events of the capital as well as of the whole our country.

This place was the North gate of Hanoi ancient citadel. The early time of the French colonialists occupation, they had destroyed the citadel to create a small flower garden called peignoir round point. In 1945, it renamed Ba Dinh flower garden. Ba Dinh letters to remind Ba Dinh land stretch in Thanh Hoa province, where risen up in arms against French colonialists lasted from 9/1886 to 1/1887.

On 2/9/1945 a half million people of Hanoi and surrounding areas had flocked in to this square to attend independence ceremony. Reviewing stand was laced in the mid of square, four sides covered with red cloths, a five star, arranged on the centre. The wall of the reviewing stand covered with white cloths.

At 14-00 o’clock sharp. The officials of provisional government were present at reviewing stand. After making salute to the flog…Uncle Ho announced the declaration of independence. A half million people felt greatly pleased and moved, silently to hear uncle Ho. After the speech of uncle Ho, the provisional government took an oath. Then the minister of internal affairs Vo Nguyen Giap presented the internal position before policies of the Government. Minister of propaganda ministering Tran Huy Lieu reported on stripping seal and sword in Hue, showed the people the seal and sword symbolizing the power of Nguyen dynasty, which Bao Dai gave the revolution. The representative of Viet Minh central executive committee, Nguyen Luong Bang talked about the fight of the people and called upon the whole Vietnamese people to unite, push up revolution process. Then, the meeting changed into demonstration and parades streets.

On 9/9/1969, six days after the death of uncle Ho, on this square the memorial service observation was held solemnly. One hundred thousand people of the capital and surrounding area and 34 international delegation crops flocked into there to attend the ceremony.

Now, the main face of square looks into Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum. In front of the mausoleum there is a square with 320m in length and 100m in width, a large room enogh for two hundred thousand people attending the meeting. The square actually is an area with 168 round the year green grass squares. On the center of the square placed a flag tower 30m in height.

Ba Dinh square becomes a sacred space of Hanoi capital.

Ho Chi Minh mausoleum

The construction of the mausoleum was started on 2/9/1973 on the ground of the previous reviewing stand, where Ho chi Minh had chaired the big meetings, and the inauguration of this construction work was held on 21/8/1978. Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum - built despite the fact that in his will, Ho requested to be cremated - was constructed of native materials gathered from all over Vietnam. The roof and peristyle are said to evoke either a traditional communal house or a lotus flower - to many tourists it looks like a cold concrete cubicle with columns. While reviewing parades and ceremonies taking place on the grassy expanses of Ba Dinh square, high-ranking party and government leaders stand in front of the mausoleum.

The main face of the mausoleum carved the line "Ho Chi Minh president" in precious stone. On the external room, there is golden line nothing is as valuable as independence, freedom carved on the granite stone, just under it there is a well - known signature of Ho uncle. Up to the stair, there is the last home by uncle. On the wall pressed white stone and engraved party’s, flag and country’s flag in relief.

Flower monument on which placed the final resting place of Ho Chi Minh constructed by glittering black stone. In order to many people are able to visit, the way arranged from 3 sides. Through a clear glass, the uncle Ho in fades kaki clothes as though he is sleeping beside his leg there is a pair of simple rubber sandal of uncle.

Ho Chi Minh mausoleum in the final resting place of Ho Chi Minh, forever symbol of veneration and boundless thank of Vietnamese people before the uncle Ho.

Ho Chi Minh’s house

In the garden behind Ho Chi Minh president’s place, there is nice grave path, two sides with mango tree leading to small, prettily simple house standing among vault - like bowers, surrounded by fence. The gate plaited with branches of the tree. Two coconut trees one is a fire coconut tree of our people in Thailand and one is a two-body coconut tree of Vinh Phuc province presented.

Uncle Ho had lived and worked in this house from 17/5/1958 until he died.

In the front of the house there is a garden in which grown up jasmine, dog-rose tufts sending out fragrance. Behind the house, there is a fruit garden with luxuriant star apples presented by the south people in 1954 standing among rows of orange tree sagging under the weight of its fruit and hundreds of valuable trees belonging to over vegetation families as grape-fruits of Phuc Trach, Thanh Hoa, Bien Hoa, Me Linh., oranges of Xuan Mai, Van Dum Xa Doai, Song Con, madrins of Huong Can, Ly Nhan, apples, Ngoc Hoi persimmon of Tien Dien, presented by ministries as argricultural ministry, forest ministry, there are also imported trees were layered from persimmon in native land of Nguyen Du poet, especially there are 11 aglaias beside the house on stilts. 5 bald cypresses around the pond, 26 areas - origin from Caribe…

The ground floor of the house on stilts was a place where Ho Chi Minh usually took me and politic bureau hold meetings. 12 chairs arranged around a large take 3 telephones covered with 3 different colors for president worked and connected with politbureau, combat, airforce departments, beside there is a iron hat which president used through the sabotage war in the North of Vietnam caused by the American.

On the door leading up to the stair, there is a small bronze bell to signals visiting of the guest. The second floor divided in to 2 small rooms: one for working and one for rest. On the working table there is a photo V.I.Lenin, which was presented by a veteran revolutionary.

In the resting room there is a wood bed occupying a half room, a small wood table, a bed cupboard on which place a book a war of resistance against Nguyen Mong aggressors.

The utensil of President are two hand fans, a brown paper fan and a palm fan a small vacuum flash, a bottle of cold water, a glass a bamboo broom used for driving away mosquito. A radio of Vietnamese resident in Thailand presented, an electric fan presented by the communist party of Japan.

In front of the house, there is a fish pond when heard president’s claps, fishes flocked together to snap at the bait.
