In Vietnam, Citadels and ramparts have been remained in many regions. But gates of suburb only appeared of Quan Chuong suburb, located on the Hang Chieu street, near the dyke of Red river, the gate’s look as of the citadel’s but it a little smaller. This is one of gates opened through the East wall of the land rampart, which had surrounded the former Thang Long capital City. That rampart was heaped in 1749. But it’s look as in present times was the result of the renovation in 1817.
In 1749, the Court of Le dynasty had order to heaf a land citadel, 9m high, 10m long, enclosed Hoang’s rampart. The East of this rampart was the dyke of Red river, the West started from Nhat Tan quarter and ran along the west bank of West lake, pass through Buoi market, to the Giay bridge, turn right and ran along the bank of Kim Nguu river, pass through O Cho Dua (Cho Dua suburb), Dong Lam, Cau Den suburb, and then reach to the depke of Red river. So this land rampart was through streets as Nghi Tam, Yen Phu, Tran Nhat Duat, Tran Quang Khai and Tran Khanh Du, the west side was streets as Lac Long Quan, Buoi, a part of Lanf, and the base was Giang Vo, De La Thanh, Dai Co Viet and Tran Khat Chan in present time.
