White sandy beaches and street-side cafes have turned Nha Trang into Vietnam's premier resort town, which is 442 km northeast of Ho Chi Minh City. With 7 km white sand beach and harmonious combination of mountains, Nha Trang is often called Vietnam's Mediterranean Area.

Nha Trang is sunny all year round. The rainfall is less than anywhere else in the country and the area is not threatened by storms since it is protected by the Truong Son Mountains and Ca Pass.

The islands off the coast are almost transparent, making for excellent sailing, fishing, snorkeling and diving. In Nha Trang, visitors can find the most breath-taking scenes on the beach. However, modern life marks its presence next to all the natural attractions.

Nha Trang has many specialties. Every year, bird's nest soup, or Yen nest soup, is cooked. Nha Trang has the most Yen birds in all of Viet Nam.

Nha Trang has several famous islands. Most notable are Hon Tre, Hon Yen, Hon Rua and the Spratly Islands.

The Po Nagar Towers once stood at the entrance of Cai River, where the river meets the ocean. Po Nagar Towers complex was built between the 7th and 12th century. The most beautiful towers were built in the year 813 and 817. The towers stood in isolation on a rock foundation, but over many years the towers and the land it stands on became part of the land mass as the river changed its flows.
