Total wholesale and retail sales in Ninh Binh has been on the rise year by year with the figure of 1999 registering a fifth fold increase over that of 1991. The province’s annual average wholesale and retail growth rate is 2.6 per cent higher than the average growth rate of the whole country.
- Wholesale and retail sales per capita has also increasingly been up given that the figure of 2000 was 3.6 times more than the figure of 1991. The figure is, however, close to 40 per cent of the average figure of the whole country of VND1.653 million.
- As part of the multi-sector developing policy, the non-state sector in the province has made significant progress together with the strong development of the state sector. In relation to the share in total wholesale and retail sales, the state sector dominated in many years ago. The share of the sector has, however, been increasingly down and replaced by the share of the non-state sector, which accounted for up to 77 per cent in total wholesale and retail sales of the province annually during the 1991-2000 period.
